The Service

We are pleased to be offering an excellent quality 20^th Century silver 12 place settings canteen in the highly sought after Old English Shell Pattern. The service provides for seven pieces per 12 place settings – 84 pieces in total.

All the spoons and forks were hand-wrought in London and retailed by one of London’s premier silver shops. They all benefit from being in fabulous condition with no personalised engravings to them.

The knives are modern with a thread & shell design and are hallmarked for London 1951 by C J Vander and Sheffield 1965 by C J Vander (two sets of 6 pairs). Other than the hallmarks they all look the same.

Old English Shell Pattern

Old English Pattern was first introduced circa 1770 and has always been a very favoured pattern due to its elegant and simple form. The addition of a shell was a rare 18^th century variant, and is most commonly found on items from the 20^th century.

This 84-piece service consists of the following:

Total weight of the 60 silver spoons and forks is 3100 grams (100 troy ounces). Plus, 24 silver handled knives.

Excellent polished condition. Full & equal length fork tines and thick rims to the spoon bowls.

Presentation

This canteen is offered in used, burgundy coloured, anti-tarnish cutlery rolls holding 12 items per roll.
