6 x King's Pattern 10" Serving Spoons, 1871

We do not recall seeing Chawner & Company made 9.5" serving spoons like these in King's pattern before and so presume they must have been a special regimental commission. These top quality spoons have a good hefty weight averaging over 120 grams per spoon and have fluted bowls which suggests their original purpose was to serve desserts, but they would be equally well suited for all manner of serving purposes.They have crisp double-struck King's pattern decoration and bear the crest of the 104th Regiment to the front terminals. The spoons are in excellent polished condition and each bear the GA mark of George Adams (Chawner & Company).

The 104th Regiment of Foot (Bengal Fusiliers) was raised by the East India Company and placed on the British establishment as the 104th Foot in 1862.
