This beautiful silver mounted glass claret jug was made by Sarah Jones, who is considered one of the leading lights of modern British silver designers. See Designer British Silver (pages 266-271) by Andrew & Styles for her biography.
The high domed cover is set with cabochon garnets and one side of the mount is engraved with a coat-of-arms surmounted by a crest and with the motto "To Serve is to Live". The glass base is decorated with a diamond-cut design. This silver mounted claret or wine jug remains in excellent condition.
