Sorry, this item is out of stock.

John Figg was a fine silversmith making some excellent silverware and this claret jug is no exception. It has a plain, bulbous glass body with star-cut base. A sign of the high quality is the extra band of silver around the mid-section to give extra support to the handle. The silver mount is finely decorated with a Bacchus mask (Greek God of Wine) to both sides. The combined finial and thumb-piece is superbly modelled as a lion rampant holding a shield to the front. This large Victorian wine pitcher is in excellent condition.
