<p>Table Spoon - Hanoverian with Murray Crest - Tain c.1745 by Hugh Ross - 212mm long; 57g - VP/1991</p>
This is a fabulous Hanoverian silver table made in the small northern Scottish town of Tain. Not only does it have rarity appeal, it is also a fabulous quality spoon in stunning condition. The spoon has a full-sized bowl with thick rim. To the reverse of the terminal is a crisp engraved crest with the motto "DREAD GOD" above the crest in true Scottish style. This is the crest of Murray and below the crest is the letter "M" in script which seems to confirm the attribution. The Scottish provincial marks are deeply struck with a great example of "TAIN" and a clear "HR" makers mark, plus a letter "L" in script. A very fine spoon.
