Swallow Pin Cushion, 1895

Pre-dating most novelty animal silver pin cushions by a decade, this is a fabulous example that is modelled in a clever, eye-catching way. Formed as a swallow in flight, the wings and forked tail hold a green velvet pad whilst the bird's head is superbly textured to give a realistic look. The green velvet is original, albeit a little faded, and the overall condition is excellent. A truly rare example!
