This is a substantial suite of mid-18th century casters by the premier exponent of condiments, Samuel Wood. Consisting of a 7.5" high sugar caster weighing 9 tr.oz. and two 6.25" side pepper casters (or muffineers), this is a high calibre set which is readily experienced when handled - they just ooze superior quality. Each of these baluster-shaped casters is engraved with a Gothic Script "W". The removable covers are superbly pierced and engraved and each one bears appropriate part marks corresponding to the full sets found below the bases. They are in exemplary condition with a good original patina.
