6 Hester Bateman Table Forks, 1788

Table Forks (6) - Old English Pattern; 3 pronged - London 1788 by Hester Bateman - 20.6cm long; 341g - CG/9841</p>
These are a very rare set of dinner forks made by the great lady silversmith Hester Bateman. Spoons with the famous HB makers mark are plentiful, but forks are much more scarce and rarely appear on the market - and when they do they tend to be in worn condition. Fortunately these meat forks are in fabulous condition with full and equal length tines and a good balanced weight in the hand. Interestingly, they are 3-pronged which suggests they were made to match an earlier set and the first such forks by Hester Bateman that we have encountered. A fine set of highly desirable table forks.
