4-piece Place Setting of Flatware - Shape Thread Edge with Shell - London 1809 by James Ede & Alexander Hewat - Table Spoon: 22cm long. Table Fork: 21.1cm long. Dessert Spoon: 18cm long. Teaspoon: 14.1cm long. Total combined weight: 250g - GC/3374
This is a great Georgian period place setting of silver flatware in a pattern that we have not previously encountered. The set comprises a dinner fork and three different sizes of spoon with each bearing the maker's mark of a scarcely found silversmithing partnership of Ede & Hewat. Presumably the pattern was designed by this partnership and owing to the scarcity of their products hence the rarity of the pattern! Each piece bears the same engraved crest and it may be that the pattern was specially commissioned. The terminal of this flatware is unusually shaped with a thread edge and shell terminal. All four pieces are in excellent condition.
