Slip Top Spoon, 1620

Spoon - Slip Top - circa 1620 by TM - 17.1cm long; 35g - AJ/8765
This is a fine looking Charles I period silver slip top spoon. It is marked to the bowl and thrice to the stem with "TM" in a heart-shaped punch (see Jacksons page 520, 4th entry). The spoon has an elegant hexagonal profile stem and fig-shaped bowl that are typical of early 17th century spoons. The spoon is in good condition (being picky, I would say the bowl tip is a little sharp - although it retains its full shape) with no personalised engravings.
Although as yet unascribed, should the distinctive marks on this spoon be attributed to a particular town and maker, then the value will rise accordingly.
