Seal Top Spoon, 1617

Sold
Spoon - Seal-top - London 1617 by William Limpanny - 16.9cm long; 48g - GR/5105
This is a fantastic James II period silver seal top spoon in fine condition. It has a large baluster-shaped seal terminal and an excellent, unworn fig-shaped bowl. The flat plate of the gilt terminal bears original dot-pricked "WW" initials. The marks are very clear too and include the maker's mark of a less common silversmith. It has a good weight too and is a highly recommended example of an early 17th century silver seal top spoon.
