William III Marrow Spoon, 1699

Sold
Marrow Spoon - London 1699 by John Broake - 168mm long; 31g - HA/3070
A great example of a rare 17th century silver marrow spoon. This double-ended spoon has a spoon bowl to one end and a scoop to the other. The spoon would originally have been gilt all over as is evident by the gilding retained within the bowl and scoop and also within the hallmarks - i.e. areas that are less prone to being cleaned and polished. The condition is excellent with a good unworn bowl (some scratches) and clear hallmarks. A fine spoon.
