Rattail Table Spoon, 1719

Sold
Table Spoon - Hanoverian Rattail pattern - London 1719 - 20cm long; 50g - SA/9438
This George I period silver table spoon bears Britannia Standard hallmarks for 1719. The spoon is generally a good example although the hallmarks are a little worn and the makers mark is only partially visible - it show an "o" which is probably part of the "Co" maker's mark for the specialist spoon-maker George Cox. There is an engraved betrothal triangle to the reverse terminal where "N" is the initial letter of the surname of the happy couple and "F" and "M" their first names. The spoon is in good condition with a bold rattail.
