Item: Spoon Description: Flame-back Trefid Hallmark: London 1687 by Thomas Issod Dimensions: 196mm long; 40grams Ref. No.: YF/8525
An excellent example of a highly sought after variant of the trefid pattern. This fine table spoon has contemporary to manufacture engraved decoration over the front and reverse sides of the handle, a "flame-back" to the reverse of the bowl and acanthus leaves at the back of the bowl interior. This spoon is in fine original condition with a full bowl, original patina, crisp engraving and more unusually - a clear set of hallmarks (often they are lost within the engraving). A wonderful James II period spoon.
