Teaspoons (6) - Trefid; Engraved & Gilt - London circa 1680 by MR - 11.1cm long; 67g - PL/8769
These are a fabulous set of engraved trefid teaspoons dating from the late Charles II period and possibly in to the reign of James II. Each spoon is decorated to both sides of the stem with foliate engraving and acanthus reverse to the rattail bowl- also known as "flame-back". This original engraving remains crisp and the spoons are gilt all over. These spoons are in excellent condition with neither damage nor repair. They all bear the "MR" crowned maker's mark.
These really are a beautiful set of teaspoons with a lovely shape to the trefid terminal and are as good a set as you are likely to find - highly recommended!
