Spoon - Trefid with Beaded Rattail - Exeter 1709 by John Elston - 22cm long; 61g - YS/1422

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This West Country trefid spoon has survived in remarkably fine condition and also benefits from a clear set of hallmarks. The spoon has a good, deep bowl with original tip intact, a hefty weight in the hand and a pronounced trefid terminal.

The reverse of the bowl has a crisp rattail with bead decoration. The reverse terminal is engraved with original dot-pricked betrothal initials with flourishes and the "1709" date is a good, desirable feature. The spoon has a great set of Britannia Standard Exeter hallmarks and a fine original patina -  an excellent all round spoon.
