This first class silver taper stick benefits from bearing a full, clear set of Britannia standard hallmarks to the underside. It is a fabulous piece of Queen Anne silver and would have been an essential piece of desk equipage for the period, in use for melting the wax to seal letters and documents. A testimony to the importance of such a piece is the presence of original engraved coat-of-arms to the base. This taperstick with its facetted octagonal base, is one of the most sought after forms and the piece is in stunning original condition. A very fine piece.
