Spoon - Seal Top - Lichfield c.1590 by John Gladwin & John Utting- 160mm long; 41g - UD/2577

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

A very rare provincial silver seal top spoon dating from the latter years of the reign of Queen Elizabeth I.

This spoon has a small cast seal top finial in the style of the late Elizabethan period. The fig-shaped bowl is in good order and bears a well struck mark "G" over "IV". This same mark appears on the reverse of the stem too and belongs to the Midlands partnership of Gladwin & Utting. The spoon is in excellent condition with unworn bowl and indistinct dot-pricked engraving to the flat end of the finial. A fine example of a provincial seal top spoon.
