Silver PORT Wine Label by Hester Bateman
£330.00
Wine Label - Port; Crescent with Saw-cut Edge - London circa 1786-90 by Hester Bateman - 3.8cm wide - MH/6882b
This is a stunner! Made by the famous Hester Bateman, this lovely silver wine label bears the incised name PORT to the centre.
The label takes a crescent form and has a beautiful saw-cut zig-zag edge and attractive engraving. The reverse side is stamped with Hester Bateman's iconic maker's mark and a lion passant. The lack of a duty mark dates the label prior to 1784 and the form is indicative of circa 1780. This lovely looking decanter label is in fine, original condition with neither damage nor repair.
