Mote Spoon - Scroll Pierced Bowl - London circa 1730 by William Petley - 12.6cm long; 7g - NT/8363

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

Dating from the early years of George II's reign, this lovely looking silver mote spoon has an attractive scroll pierced bowl and tapering stem with mitre terminal.

The narrow stems of mote spoons were not the easiest places to stamp hallmarks, but this spoon conveniently bears two maker's marks - one showing the outline, 5-point star surmount and letter "P" and the other confirming William Petley's mark with a clear "W"! There was no way that this complicated mark was going to fit in a single stamping!

This Georgian silver mote spoon remains in excellent condition with neither damage nor repair.
