Galleon Spoon by Omar Ramsden, 1937

Spoon - Galleon Finial - London 1937 by Omar Ramsden - 14.2cm; 42g - SC/9899b
This is a superb silver spoon from the most important English silversmith of the 20th century - Omar Ramsden.
This hand-wrought spoon has a fantastic depiction of a galleon sailing on a choppy sea and in typical Ramsden fashion retains original spot hammer marks to the bowl and a rattail to the reverse side.
This arts & crafts spoon was probably made as a child's spoon (perhaps for a christening), but could equally well be used for sugar, jam and other preserves. It remains in excellent condition throughout.
