Set of 6 Squirrel Picture-back Silver Teaspoons
£650.00
Teaspoons (6) - Squirrel Picture-back - London circa 1770 - 10.3cm long; 44g combined weight - HL/4388
This is an excellent set of Georgian fancy back silver teaspoons with the very rare squirrel picture to the reverse of the bowls.
The squirrel is set among oak leaves and acorns and other than some loss of detail to the fur are in generally good clear condition - the close-up photo of the reverse bowls shows the two best examples in the middle and the least distinct to the far right. These Hanoverian pattern spoons are free from any engraved initials and are stamped with two bottom-struck marks and although the maker's mark has not been clearly struck does end in a "W". They have a fine patina and good, unworn bowls.
