Set of 6 Squirrel-back Teaspoons, 1760

Fancy back silver teaspoons with the squirrel picture are particularly scarce, so a set of six is almost unheard of - especially in the fine condition that this half dozen are in. The squirrel is set among oak leaves and acorns and other than some loss of detail to the fur are in good clear condition. Each spoon terminal carries original "SR" engraved initials and two bottom-struck marks for the specialist spoon maker Thomas Devonshire. A fabulous set of Georgian Hanoverian picture back teaspoons in excellent condition throughout.
