Miniature Dinner Plates (6) - Circular - London circa 1720 by David Clayton - 3.2cm diameter - JN/5056

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This is a very rare complete and original set of six miniature silver dinner plates that would have been used to furnish the dinner table within a doll's house.

Each plate is marked to the front with the Gothic script "DC" maker's mark of the specialist toy-maker, David Clayton who was working in London during the irst quarter of the 18th century. These plain circular plates are typical of the full size example in use at the time, most of which will have been subsequently melted down and recycled down fashions changed.

Given their small size, it is very rare after 300 years to find an original set together! They further benefit from being in fine condition.
