Sorry, this item is out of stock.

Scottish silver card cases are relatively scarce and this is a great example made in Edinburgh by James Nasmyth & Company.

The rectangular case is superbly decorated with elaborate foliate scrolls around a matted engine turned centre with a pair of peacocks feeding from a bird bath to the base and an eagle swooping down from above. One side has the crest and motto of the original owner with the Latin motto reading "Virtutis Gloria Mercis" which translates to "Glory is the Reward of Valour".

The condition is excellent with good crisp engraving and a firm hinge.
