Scottish Provincial Silver Soup Ladle, Glasgow 1770
£260.00
Soup Ladle - Old English Pattern - Glasgow circa 1770 by Adam Graham - 35cm long; 213g - HU/5519
This is a good example of an 18th century Scottish provincial silver soup ladle made by Adam Graham in Glasgow.
At just under 14" long, the ladle is a good, large size and in the Old English pattern with an engraved monogram to the terminal. The markings to the back are a combination of two Glasgow city arms marks (an oak tree with a robin on top, a bell hanging from the branches and a salmon on its back below.) and two "AG" marks for the silversmith Adam Graham.
This George III period soup ladle is in fine condition with a great example of the Scottish trait of having a strong, double-heel to the reverse of the circular bowl.
