Rococo Shell-back Silver Table Spoon, 1761
Sold
Table Spoon - Hanoverian Shell-back - London 1761 by James Tookey - 20.5cm long; 60g - PS/2328c
Made in the early years of King George III's reign, this good quality silver table spoon has a fancy back to the bowl in the form of a complex shell that typified the Rococo period.
This Georgian spoon was made by the specialist spoonmaker James Tookey who rather appropriately ran a workshop in Silver Street, London. It bears original engraved ownership initials to the back of the handle and an excellent set of hallmarks. The spoon is in fine, antique condition with a nice solid weight in the hand.
