Round is the standard shape for waiter trays, but this is an exceptional oblong salver made by one of the finest specialists in the field. This tray has a superb appearance exuding high quality throughout. It has a bold gadroon border that is typical of the Regency period with the decoration continuing down the sides of the four bracket feet. The centre of the tray is engraved with a stunning armorial. The quality is of the highest order and the salver is in wonderful condition.

The coat of arms belong to Richard Norris of Basing Park who was High Sheriff of Hampshire in 1814.
