Queen Anne Sugar Caster, 1713
Sold
Sugar Caster - Baluster shape - London 1713 by Charles Adam - 14.5cm high; 127g - AR/1646
Charles Adam was a top quality specialist silver caster maker from the early years of the 18th century and the baluster form, as per this example, was the most popular design in the second half of Queen Anne's reign.
This sugar caster bear Britannia Standard hallmarks to the underside of the foot and although not deeply struck the "AD" maker's mark and date letter can be clearly seen. The pull-off, pierced cover has appropriate part marks with the bonus of a clear maker's mark too, plus the lion's head erased mark.
This antique caster has a nice solid feel in the hand, is in fine condition and is a great example of the type.
