Octagonal Sugar Caster, 1725
Sugar Caster - Octagonal - London 1725 by Samuel Welder - 17cm high; 204g - GV/1647
The octagonal silver caster was the prevalent style during the reign of King George I and this good-sized sugar caster is a great example of the type.
This piece was made by Samuel Welder who specialised in caster making and has a good, hefty feel in the hand. The pull-off cover is attractively pierced and appropriately part marked. This antique silver sugar caster is in excellent condition with a good set of hallmarks to the underside.
