Table Spoon - Dog Nose - London 1710 by William Scarlett - 19.3cm long; 53g - FP/3993

Made during the reign of Queen Anne, this good quality silver dog nose table spoon is in fine condition with a good set of Britannia standard hallmarks.

The spoon takes the typical dog nose form with a bold rattail to the reverse of the bowl and the newly introduced rounded stem that was to typify spoons of the 18th century. The condition is excellent with a lovey antique patina and a good, unworn bowl which retains its thick rim.

Reading up from the bowl, the Britannia standard hallmarks include the "Sc" maker's mark of the specialist spoonmaker William Scarlett, Britannia (worn), lion's head erased and an excellent example of the date letter for 1710. A good all around spoon!
