Port Wine Label, Dublin c.1790

This handsome Irish silver wine label is in the form of a banner with swag surmount and incised PORT to the central field. The cartouche to the surmount is engraved with an original crest featuring a griffin with wings aloft. The reverse side shows the Dublin hallmarks and GN maker's mark of the maker, plus an original engraved betrothal triangle "B" over "A.M" where the "B" is the initial letter of the happy couple's surname and their first names begin with "A" and "M". This Irish silver bottle ticket is in fine condition throughout.
