George III Port Label, 1775

Sold
Wine Label - PORT; Shaped rectangle with Chased Border - London circa 1775 by Margaret Binley - 5.5cm long; 11.6g - ST/4882
Margaret Binley produced some good looking silver wine bottle tickets and this Georgian Port label is in a scarce and particularly attractive form. It has a rectangular shape with chased decoration around the border: feather edging to top and base and flower tendrils up both sides terminating in a flower head in the top corners."PORT" is pierced to the central field and the whole hangs from a belcher chain. It is clearly marked to the reverse and remains in excellent condition.
