Pap Boat - Plain with Ducal Crest - London 1725 - 11.5cm long; 59g - OU/6654

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

Bearing an engraved five point ducal crest featuring a lion for a Baron to the inside base, this is a highly collectable piece of scarce early 18th century silver. Pap boats or baby feeding vessels generally date from the second half of the 18th century and we are fortunate to currently be offering some rare George I period examples. This hand-some silver pap boat is in fine condition, although it has a pitted surface from use (this looks more significant in the photos than in reality!). The hallmarks are located to the outside and the maker's mark is illegible. The main point of interest for this pap boat being the ducal crest and with research the identity of the child born in to aristocracy for whom it was made might be discovered.
