Sold
Salt Pots (pair) - Pedestal, 2 -handled - London 1789 by William Stroud - 143mm long x 82mm high; 228grams - Ref. No.: DV/2261
These are an exceptionally beautiful pair of Georgian salt pots. These 2-handled navette-shaped salts stand on an oval pedestal foot and have a bead top rim that is repeated around the foot. The interiors of both are gilt to protect the silver from the corrosive effects of salt and both bear an engraved crest of a stylised harpooned fish. They have a good hefty weight and are in excellent original condition with neither damage nor repair.
Both salt pots are clearly stamped with the same matching hallmarks - one around the foot and the other on the body adjacent to one handle - see photos.
