Pair of Miniature Candlesticks, 1891

A lovely pair of late Victorian silver candlesticks with a height of less than 2". These square based column candlesticks are typical of the full sized versions made in the late Victorian period that were revivals of the Classical candlesticks of the late 18th century. The candlesticks are lead loaded to give them a good, chunky feel in the hand. Pairs of miniature candlesticks are quite a rarity and would have been used as toys perhaps for a dolls house.
