Sugar Nips - London circa 1745 by Henry Morris - 11.6cm long; 27g - PL/3789

These are a great pair of mid-18th century silver sugar nips or tea tongs.

The form of these Georgian nippers suggests a date from the 1740's and the marks confirm this assertion. Both grips are appropriately hallmarked with the lion passant and maker's mark; the former has the punch-shape of the 1739-55 series whilst the latter is the "HM" in scrip maker's mark of Henry Morris (Grimwade 1034). These silver sugar nips are in fine condition with none of the damage nor repairs that often blight these fragile items.
