These are an excellent pair of Georgian silver shoe buckles. They have an attractive openwork silver frame and pitchfork style hinged steel chape. They date from the years soon after the introduction of the intaglio duty mark in 1786 and prior to the addition of date letter in the 1790's. They are both stamped thrice with lion passant, duty mark and "WP" maker's mark and are in excellent condition.
