Table Spoons (pair) - Fiddle pattern - Birmingham 1823 by Postans & Tye - 23.5cm long; 163g combined weight - UW/6167b

These are a rare pair of silver table spoons made by the scarely encountered Birmingham firm, Postans & Tye.

These fiddle pattern table spoons are engraved to the front with a crest depicting a swan's head between two ostrich feathers. They have a good, solid weight and feel in the hand and are in excellent condition with an antique patina (one very small ding to one bowl).

Postans and Tye were in production between 1820 and 1824 with the majority of their small output being boxes. It is unusual to find silver flatware of this kind dating from the Georgian period to have been made in Birmingham.
