Novelty Georgian Shovel Caddy Spoon, 1809
Sold
Caddy Spoon - Shovel; gilt - Birmingham 1809 by Joseph Taylor - 8.8cm long - KE/3084
This is a really fine quality variant of the novelty, shovel-style antique silver caddy spoon and is the first time we have encountered this particular model.
This Georgian example was made in Birmingham by Joseph Taylor and features a shovel-shaped bowl with ribbed design to the outside, a gilt interior and original script ownership monogram. The shovel has a long, hollow "T-shaped" handle and has a good, solid weight in the hand. It remains in first class collectable condition.
