Porringer - Circular with Looped Handles - London 1907 by Nelson Dawson - 3.5cm high; 12cm diameter rim; 119g - BK/9087</p>
The founder of the Artificer's Guild in 1901, Nelson Dawson (1859-1941) and his wife Edith were leading lights in the English Arts & Crafts movement. Nelson was a potter, water colour painter, metalworker, jeweller, enameller, etcher, print-maker and writer on artistic subjects as well as being a silversmith. With his range of talents and limited time, there are few extant pieces of silver with his "ND" maker's mark.
This hand-made silver porringer is one such piece and has looped handles on a circular hand-raised bowl. This antique silver bowl remains in fine condition.
