Mug - Cylindrical with Chased Decoration - London 1708 by Alexander Roode - 8.2cm high; 9.5cm wide (incl. handle); 6.2cm diameter; 250ml volume; 149g - PR/8787

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

A fine example of an early 18th century silver mug with a volume close on a 1/2 pint. This Queen Anne period cup is in the typical style of the period with fluted decoration around the body and a strap handle. The cartouche to the front has a surround of chased scrollwork and is neither engraved nor appears to have been erased. The mug bears Britannia Standard hallmarks and although the initial letter for the maker is rubbed, the diagnostic devices below give it away as being for Alexander Roode. A nice piece in great original condition!
