Matthew Linwood Silver Leaf Caddy Spoon, 1807
Sold
Caddy Spoon - Leaf - Birmingham 1807 by Matthew Linwood - 7.8cm long; 12g - RE/2902
Matthew Linwood made some excellent novelty silver caddy spoons modelled as leaves and this example is no exception.
The distinctive, bifurcated handle is one of Linwood's trademark features and is engraved with an original initial "L" in script. The heart-shaped leaf bowl is cleverly chased with veins and small islets upon which the hallmarks are scattered. This is a scarce Georgian caddy spoon by one of the best makers and continues to be in fine, original condition.
