Cream Jug - Birmingham 1899 by Keswick School of Industrial Arts - 9.5cm wide x 5.5cm high; 77g - UP/2360

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This lovely silver cream jug was made during the Victorian period and is an early production by the Keswick School of Industrial Arts, bearing clear Birmingham hallmarks for the same.

It has been hand-raised from sheet silver, evident from the original planishing (spot hammer) marks all over the piece in the arts & crafts manner. It has a dainty appearance with a plain, fluted form around the circular body. Probably designed by Harold Stabler, this is a very rare piece of KSIA hollowware in excellent condition throughout.

"By 1898 the school had over 100 pupils attending classes and full time craftsmen were employed to execute works to Stabler's designs" - extract from "The Loving Eye and Skilful Hand" by Ian Bruce.
