Vesta Case - Kate Greenaway scene engraved - Birmingham 1876 by Robinson & McKewan - 4cm x 3cm; 23g - CK/8179

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

Inspired the works of the Victorian novelist Kate Greenaway, this charming silver vesta case is engraved to the front with a scene of playing children. The reverse side has a floral decorated cartouche centred by a script monogram. This top quality vesta case has a sprung flip-up top, a nicely made hinge and striker to the base. It was made by the rarely encountered Birmingham-based partnership of Robinson & McKewan and is in fine condition.

Kate Greenaway was a 19th century writer and illustrator of children's books. Her "children" are very distinctive for wearing romantic, traditional costume.
