Irish Scallop Sherry Label

Wine Label - Sherry; Scallop - Dublin circa 1807/08 by John Teare II - 5.3cm wide; 11g - FP/3205</p>
This fine looking silver wine label was made in the form of a scallop by the Irish silversmith John Teare. It is in excellent original condition with clear Dublin hallmarks including the flat topped duty head mark for the first two years after its introduction (1807 and 1808) and the distinctively shaped JT makers mark for John Teare. A rare and good looking Sherry label.
A matching Irish scallop label by the same maker entitled "HOCK" is shown as figure 330 in "Wine Labels 1730-2003" and another "CHAMPAIGNE" as figure 928.
