This is a charming silver shovel-shaped salt spoon made in Ireland by the Dublin silversmith John Smyth. It has a a fiddle-shaped handle and is clearly hallmarked to the reverse side and includes the stamp of the retailer "Waterhouse" who were in Dame Street, Dublin during the second half of the 19th century. This antique Irish silver salt shovel is engraved to the front terminal with an original script engraved monogram and is in fine condition.
