Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This is a very rare Irish silver 18th century mustard pot. This urn-shaped pot is in the Neo classical style with trellis piercing interspersed with two urn motifs and a lower band of scroll tendrils. The hinged cover is domed shaped with spire finial, bright-cut decoration and it bears a Hibernia mark to the inside. The pedestal foot is loaded to give added stability and there is a blue glass liner for the interior which is likely to be original.

The mustard pot is in good order throughout with an engraved crest to the front cartouche. There is some wear to the engraving in places, most noticeably to the cartouche and around the foot. The mustard pot is made from a good gauge of silver and consequently the piercing has survived remarkably well with none of the usual splits or repairs one might expect. There is a crowned harp and Hibernia Irish hallmarks only to the body for circa 1780.
