Large Irish Jug, 1793

This is a good sized, Irish silver milk jug - much bigger than standard cream jugs. It has a beautiful shape with a tall, elegant handle that terminates in a leaf motif. The front of this pitcher style jug is engraved with a large engraved crest depicting a griffin's head. The hallmarks are located to the underside and the maker's mark has been over-struck by the crowned harp mark. The initials of the original owners are also engraved to the underside. This is a rare piece of Irish silver in excellent condition.
