This handsome wine label is twice marked with the "ST" maker's mark for the late 18th century Irish silversmith Samuel Teare. The label has a very attractive Neoclassical form with bright-cut engraved border and "CLARET" to the central field. It is in fine condition throughout.
A near identical Champaigne label by the same maker can be seen in "Wine Labels 1730-2003" as figure 930 (page 280).
